One More Sleep 'Til Christmas

Happy Christmas Eve!  There's something in the air on Christmas Eve ... different from Christmas Day ... reverent, peaceful, full of anticipation ... I love it.
We started a new tradition this year, a big Turkey Christmas Eve Dinner. This was my second turkey I've made in my life, (and by 'made' I mean gently warmed to the state of perfection) and it was delicious. We peeled ten pounds of potatoes for the mashed potatoes. We like potatoes. We had Rindy Farm corn, homemade (by ME!) gravy, and Mormon Champagne - or as the kids called it, "Candy Cane Juice." The kiddos were so excited to drink out of goblets. I mean SO excited. We had to forbid them from "clinking" their cups in a toast ... who knows where on earth they got that. But other than that, it was an awesome dinner and is going to be one of my favorite traditions, I'm sure of it.

You may know that we are pretty tight with Santa, and even though he was SUPER busy, he managed to stop by on Christmas Eve to ask the kids if they were still being good, encourage them to go right to bed, and give them some new pajamas.  The kids LOVED having him visit.

After Santa hurried on his way, we put some cookies and milk out for him, threw out some reindeer food, changed into pajamas and read The Night Before Christmas.  {Christmas day, AJ reported that he dreamt of sugar plumbs all night long.}

It's nice to have connections. It was so fun to see their reaction! I wish we could have gotten video when they heard the bells outside and the knock at the door. But you forgot to mention what Melia asked for from Santa--she wants an ipad! Love it!
